The southbound lanes of Interstate 69 in Caldwell County were closed for several hours Monday night due to a semi-trailer fire.
Princeton Fire Chief Brent Francis tells the News Edge firefighters responded to the 85-mile marker around 6:47 p.m. He says when firefighters arrived the back half of the semi-trailer was fully engulfed in flames.

Chief Francis says the semi-truck was hauling 42 rolls of paper weighing over 44,000 pounds. He adds firefighters used around 7,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.
According to the chief, one of the burning tires on the rig exploded across both lanes of the interstate.
Chief Francis says the fire apparently started in connection to brake issues.
There were no injuries reported.
