Princeton Man Indicted for Arson in Connection to House Fire

A Princeton man has been indicted for arson in connection with a house fire in October.
According to a Princeton Police report an indictment was served at the jail on 56-year-old Danny Mitchell at the Caldwell County Jail on Monday, charging him with arson first degree.
Caldwell County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Noel says the charge stems from an incident on October 17th when Mitchell allegedly set fire to a residence located at 4311 Grooms Lane.
The Princeton Fire Department responded to a call just after three in the morning and found that the owner, Krysty Mitchell, had used a fire extinguisher to attempt to put the blaze out. Firefighters found that the fire had spread under the house through a foundation vent but were able to contain it before it reached the interior of the house. The house sustained minor damage along one exterior wall including a drain pipe and window siding.
Through preliminary investigation a letter written by Mitchell was obtained alleging he started the fire. Mitchell was arrested a short time later on a warrant charging him with arson first degree. Caldwell County Grand Jury returned the indictment on Mitchell on Monday. Deputy Noel says that the incident was isolated and a personal issue between Mitchell and the home owner.
Kentucky State Police Arson Investigators and State Fire Marshals assisted the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department with the investigation.
