Community Mourns Loss Of Well Known Public Servant

The community is mourning the loss of one of it’s most well-known members. It was announced on social media Thursday morning that Princeton resident, Ralph Sharp, passed away after a short battle with cancer. Close friend and previous employer, Chip Hutcheson, says Ralph had taken a turn for the worst last week and passed Thursday morning around four.

Hutcheson expressed that Ralph’s great impact on this community will surely be missed.

Similar sentiments have been felt all across the entire community as those who knew Ralph shared kind words and memories of him on social media.

Ralph, who was employed by the Times Leader for over two decades, was a constant staple at Caldwell County sports games and events and was an active member in many local organizations. As a member of the Princeton Optimist Club he volunteered at the annual Black Patch Heritage Festival and also helped during the organization’s radio auction fundraiser.
Ralph was also an active supporter of the arts, serving as a member of the Princeton Art Guild and working as a docent several Saturdays throughout the year.
His community involvement didn’t stop there, he was also an active member at Southside Baptist Church, where he worked with AWANA, Judgement House, and the Media Ministry.
His high community involvement over the years recently lead to him being awarded a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Matt Bevin.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at Southside Baptist Church. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from eleven until service time at the church.
