Grimes Will Not Run For Public Office

Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes Monday released a statement saying she would not be running for any public office in 2019.
In her statement, Grimes says for many months, I have been considering a campaign to become Kentucky’s second female Governor in 2019. She says, after leading her party’s ticket in both 2011 and 2015, the constant and positive chorus of Kentuckians – especially strong Kentucky women – encouraging me to pursue a historic run has been both inspirational and deeply humbling.
Grimes says she never could have imagined that this year she would have the job she always dreamed of – not Governor-elect – but Mom.
She says while she is grateful for the confidence, support, and friendship from thousands of supporters across this state, she has decided not to run another statewide campaign this year. She says she wants to focus on Ford, the miracle baby boy she and her husband Andrew prayed so hard for.
She goes on to say, she looks forward to returning to public service in the future.
