Winter Storm Made Driving Treacherous Over the Weekend

Cold temperatures and blizzard like conditions made travel treacherous as a winter storm blew through the area over the weekend.
Roads throughout Princeton and Caldwell County were covered in a layer of ice and snow after a winter storm dumped two to three inches across the county Saturday night. According to a post on social media, Linton Way between Green Street and Micbeth Drive in Princeton was closed overnight on Saturday due to hazardous driving conditions.
Princeton Mayor Kota Young says city crews were out until 2AM on Sunday working to clear roads but despite the sunlight frigid temps impeded the melting process throughout the day. Several slick spots were still reported on Sunday afternoon.
A post on the Caldwell County Government Information social media page echoed the same issues throughout the county saying that roads that were within direct sunlight saw some significant melting but several slick areas were still reported.
Overnight temperatures in the teens and a light dusting of snow caused re-freezing in several places and motorists are being cautioned to use extreme care if they have to get out early Monday morning.
The sun is forecast to make an appearance on Monday but temperatures will barely reach freezing in the afternoon, but Tuesday’s forecast calls for rain and temps in the upper 40s, which should drastically help road conditions.
