Budget Increase for Princeton Code Enforcement and Planning and Zoning Approved

A budget increase for Princeton’s Code Enforcement and Planning and Zoning was approved following action taken by the council.
During a regular meeting Tuesday night the Princeton City Council unanimously approved an increase of $14,000 to be added to the Code Enforcement and Planning and Zoning budget. The funds are a portion of payroll tax receipts the city received from Treehouse Foods.
The increase will be used for the purpose of tearing down a dilapidated and dangerous property in the middle of town. Originally, Code Enforcement Officer Dickie Thomas requested all $25,000 of the payroll tax receipts for the demolition, but after concern from the Council he and Mayor Kota Young decided upon the $14,000 increase.
The funds will now bring the Code Enforcement and Planning and Zoning budget to $25,000, with $18,000 budgeted for the demolition, leaving $7,000 for the remainder of the fiscal year.
