The Marshall County School District is being sued by the families of four of the Marshall County Shooting victims.
According to WPSD-TV the lawsuit was filed by the families of Bailey Holt, Gage Smock, Dalton Keeling and Mary Bella James. Holt died during the shooting, with Smock, Keeling and James sustaining injuries.
The lawsuit lists 18 defendants including the Marshall County School District, alleged shooter Gabe Parker, his parents Mary Garrison Minyard and stepfather Justin Minyard.
The lawsuit seeks an unspecified amount of damages. The lawsuit claims that school leaders knew or should have known that the gunman was dangerous, but failed to stop him before the shooting. The suit also cites negligence on the part of Parker’s family by failing to secure the handgun used in the shooting.
