With More Rain Forecast Officials Reminding Citizens of High Water Near Roadways

With more rain, and even some snow, forecast for the next couple of days area officials are reminding citizens of a few places where water is still threatening to cover roadways.
Caldwell County Emergency Management Director Joey McCaslin says that there are currently three roads around the county with high water signs posted that have had water levels fluctuating throughout the week.
McCaslin adds those roads include Joe Jones Road, Cannon Road off of Highway 70, and Needmore Olney Road near McGregor Cemetery.
Currently none of the roads are officially closed to traffic, however officials remind motorists to “turn around, don’t drown” and to use caution in these areas. The ground is still saturated with the over four inches of rain received since last week and with more rain and snow forecast to return to the area on Friday and last through the weekend, water levels could again rise.
If you encounter a flooded roadway that has not been marked please note the specific location with landmarks, crossroad, or mile marker and contact Caldwell County Dispatch at 270-365-7860.
