“Party Animals” Were “Freezin for a Reason” This Weekend

Several local “party animals” were “freezin for a reason” this weekend at the annual West Kentucky Polar Plunge at Kentucky Dam Village State Park.
Melinda Ezell, who works with Caldwell County’s Special Olympics team and took the plunge, says that finalized totals on all donations will be available next week but was glad to report that the team, dubbed the “Party Animals,” took home first place in the costume contest.
WPKY’s own, Misty Musser, and Fredonia Mayor Jimmy Siebert also took the plunge into the freezing cold lake. Or, rather, they ran in. Musser says that event organizers had decided that participants wouldn’t jump off the dock this year due to a bout of winter weather that had moved through the area early Saturday. Participants were being instructed to take a dip in small pools.
However, Musser, Mayor Siebert, and another team member, Amy Lewis, decided they were there to plunge into the lake and they would fulfill their promise. You can watch their brave sprint into the frigid waters on our Facebook page.
Musser adds that WPKY’s listeners helped her raise over $300, split between herself and Mayor Seibert, to go towards the plunge and Special Olympics within Caldwell County.
Complete totals for the entire event, including how much the “Party Animals” raised, will be released next week after the donation cut off.
