One day after being shot two times during a pursuit, Hopkinsville Police Officer Jeremy Davidson was welcomed home after being released from a Nashville hospital Tuesday afternoon. Officer Davidson arrived in Hopkinsville around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon via Fort Campbell Boulevard and was escorted with sirens activated by a long line of emergency vehicles made up of the Hopkinsville Police, Christian County Sheriff, and Hopkinsville Fire Departments.

During a news conference Monday morning at the Hopkinsville Police Department, Chief Clayton Sumner said Officer Davidson was shot in the head and arm and was taken to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville where he was in good condition.

According to an arrest warrant, Officer Davidson was shot when he attempted to pull over a vehicle on North Drive that was involved in an armed robbery at Walmart on Clinic Drive around 1:30 Monday morning, but the vehicle fled and a pursuit ensued. Police reported the driver, 28-year old Keith Kuzyk swerved and tried to hit a deputy deploying spike strips and then fired multiple times at Officer Davidson, striking him twice. Davidson was taken to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for treatment of gunshot wounds.

Kuzyk was arrested in Montgomery County around 9:30 Monday morning after another police chase. He will be extradited back to Christian County to face charges of two counts of attempted murder of a police officer and multiple other offenses related to the pursuits and robbery at Walmart. Two females and another male are also behind bars facing various charges in connection for allegedly stealing a vehicle and the robbery at Walmart.
