Local Animal Shelter Looking for Volunteers

A local animal shelter is hoping to bring in new volunteers to help get animals forever homes.
Irene Haile, Caldwell County Animal Shelter Director, says that the shelter is open five days a week.

She adds that currently the shelter has 11 dogs on site and two in foster homes, so while they’re not suffering from overcrowding volunteers are still needed to help clean kennels, feed, water, and walk the dogs. Haile notes that currently they are attempting to deep clean each and every kennel, so dogs will need to be moved while their kennel is cleaned. This means the shelter is in need of volunteers to clean while others take the dogs for a walk or to play in their enclosed area.
Haile says that all anyone needs to do to volunteer is come by the shelter, which is located on Baker Hill Road behind the City County Park, and pick up an application.

She notes that people of all ages are welcome to volunteer but those under 16 must have a parent present.

Those who would like more information on volunteering or are interesting in potentially adopting a forever friend can call the Caldwell County Animal Shelter at 270-365-1000 or Irene Haile at 270-601-1651.
