Winners of Princeton Rotary Club Speech Contest Announced

Winners of the Princeton Rotary Club Speech Contest have been announced.
Princeton Rotary Club Speech Contest Coordinator Geneva Malone says the club had five high school participants at the contest, which was held Tuesday at Majestic Steak House. She adds that students were asked to prepare a five to eight minute speech on the topic, “Be the Inspiration,” which is the Rotary International theme for 2018-19.
Receiving first place, and $300, was Fredonia resident Ellie McGowan, who attends Crittenden County High School. Second place, including a check for $200, was awarded to Princeton resident Da’Shaiana (Shae) Sharp, who attends Caldwell County High School. Dawson Springs resident Emilee Martin, who attends Caldwell County High School, came in third, winning $100.

Malone says other competitors were Madison Crider and John Parades, both students at Caldwell County High School.
She adds that judges for the contest were Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sean Mestan and Rotarians Christi Boudro and Jason Redfern. Timekeepers were Rotarians Roy Burris and Drake Rogers. Tellers were Rotarians Melissa Earnest and Carol Woodall.
The contest was open to all high school students, whether in public school or home schooled.
McGowan will now advance to the sectional contest in Mayfield.
