County Officials to Ring Old Courthouse Bell to Honor Vietnam Veterans

County officials are encouraging citizens to take a moment on Friday to honor Vietnam veterans.
Caldwell County Magistrate District 4 Jeff Simms says that officials will ring the old bell in the courthouse seven times every seven seconds on Friday, March 29th beginning at noon to salute and remember veterans of the Vietnam Conflict, as well as all who have served.
He adds that officials had been trying to determine a proper reason to ring the old bell and came to the decision that using it to honor Vietnam veterans is a great way to bring it out of retirement.
Simms, and all other county officials, are encouraging citizens to step out of their businesses and homes at noon to salute the veterans by placing their hands over their hearts in a moment of reflection and honor.
