Trial Date Set For Former Kuttawa City Clerk And Her Husband

A trial date has been set for a former Kuttawa City Clerk and her husband who are facing multiple counts of forgery-related charges.
Media reports indicate Katie Harrison and her husband, Clayton, appeared in Lyon County Circuit Court for a pretrial conference Monday where Judge C.A. “Woody” Woodall set the trial date for May 14, 2020.

Kentucky State Police conducted an investigation last year in August 2018 after officials discovered financial irregularities in city accounts. The couple is accused of stealing several thousands of dollars in taxpayer money by forging checks from the city’s bank account. Police couldn’t locate the couple but they were found and arrested in Sevier County, Tennessee in November and extradited back to Lyon County.
Katie Harrison is charged with 24 counts of second-degree forgery, abuse of public trust, and tampering with physical evidence. Her husband, Clayton is charged with 10 counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument. Both are facing a charge of unlawful taking over $10,000 but under $1,000,000.
The couple will reportedly be back in court for another pretrial conference in December.
