Princeton is “Lighting It Up Blue” for Autism Awareness Month

Princeton and Caldwell County are “lighting it up blue” for Autism Awareness Month.
If you’ve been driving downtown Princeton after dark this week you may have noticed blue lights adorning some of the streetlamps on East Main Street and the blue spotlights on the Caldwell County Courthouse. Princeton Mayor Kota Young says that he was approached by PACT of Princeton to help the group recognize Autism Awareness Month in April.

Caldwell County Magistrate District Four Jeff Simms notes that adding blue spotlights outside of the courthouse was a great way to show their support for something that reaches so many people in the community.

Mayor Young adds that his office is always open for other groups or organizations to come to him with similar ideas.

The current data from Autism Speaks says that one in every 37 boys and one in every 150 girls has some form of autism and PACT of Princeton is hoping the whole community will come behind them and show their support throughout the month of April. Director of Fundraising, Heather P’pool, says that everyone can help “light it up blue” by purchasing blue lightbulbs, which are available for $2 a bulb. She notes that the group did supply all of the blue lights for downtown.
Those who would like more information about PACT of Princeton or would like to purchase a blue lightbulb can call Heather P’pool at 270-625-3809.
