Soldiers from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell are participating in several activities, including a swim at Energy Lake in Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Hamburger Hill.
3rd Brigade Public Affairs Officer Major John Moore tells the News Edge the event at Energy Lake is going on all day Thursday.

He says after the swim Thursday they will participate in another event.
Maj. Moore indicates the soldiers have done a variation of events the past 26 years to commemorate the Battle of Hamburger Hill. The battle was during the Vietnam War and fought on May 10-20, 1969 and resulted in over 400 U.S. casualties.
