Community Members Invited to Join Fredonia Valley Heritage Society

Local community members interested in history are being invited to become a part of a local historical society.
Linda Bennett, Vice President of the Fredonia Valley Heritage Society, says that the society began in 2007 following increased interest in Fredonia history after the restoration of the one room school.

She adds that in November 2008 they began the process to publish Fredonia’s first history book.

Following the success of the first book, which has sold over 1,000 copies and lead to the Society receiving the Thomas D. Clark Award of Excellence in 2011, Bennett states that the group moved forward with a second book.

She notes that the group is currently working on a third book about veterans within the Valley.

Bennett is encouraging all within the area who have a love for preserving and learning history to join the Society.

The Fredonia Valley Historical Society meets the first Thursday of each odd numbered month at the American Legion building at Buddy Rogers Ballpark in Fredonia. The July meeting will be held on July 9th in lieu of the July 4th holiday.
