The City of Princeton will save about $30,000 a year in unused pension and benefits following action taken by the City Council.

The proposed ordinance will merely allow the city to not be required to pay pension and health insurance benefits for any former Kentucky State Police Trooper who is hired as either police chief or assistant police chief. All former Troopers receive retirement and benefits from the state and are unable to take advantage of the benefits offered by the city.
Mayor Young added that the ordinance will save the city the up to $30,000 a year that is currently inaccessible to the affected city employees.
After a motion, a second, and a roll call vote the Council unanimously approved the ordinance.
