Landowners and residents around Lake Beshear are being invited to attend a public meeting at Pennyrile State Resort Park Thursday, May 23 to discuss boat dock and shoreline use issues and enforcement on the lake located in Christian and Caldwell Counties.
According to a release the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, who owns a buffer around the shoreline, is gathering landowner input on current construction and compliance issues with boat docks and use of department lands around the lake.
Topics at the meeting will include past construction and enforcement along with future oversight and enforcement options. The release states that the primary intent of these discussions is to preserve as much of the natural beauty of the lake as possible through effective regulation and enforcement, while still allowing reasonable landowner access where available.
The meeting will begin at 6:30PM at the Pennyrile State Resort Park Multi-Purpose Facility, located at 20781 Pennyrile Lodge Road in Dawson Springs.
Landowners who cannot attend the meeting may provide written comments to Kentucky Fish and Wildlife. Comments may be emailed to fw.fisheries@ky.gov, or letters mailed to Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Headquarters, c/o Amy Akers, 1 Sportsman’s Lane, Frankfort.
The department must receive all comments by June 3rd. The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission will review comments and discuss Lake Beshear at its June 7th public meeting at the headquarters in
Frankfort.
As part of its public notification efforts, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife is sending letters to all known landowners around Lake Beshear.
