Princeton Fire Chief Urging Everyone to Use Common Sense to Prevent Fires

Local fire officials are reminding residents to use common sense when it comes to preventing fires.
Princeton Fire Chief Brent Francis says that motorists need to be aware of the potential disastrous outcomes of throwing cigarettes out of a vehicle when driving down the road.

He also wants to remind everyone that natural vegetation is the only thing that is legal to burn.

Chief Francis adds that people need to be aware that they are still responsible for any fire they set, whether it’s legal or not.

He also recommends that if you are planning on burning natural vegetation to please alert central dispatch.

Chief Francis indicates that if a fire ever does get out of control to call 911 immediately.

He is also advising farmers to take a few steps when storing hay that will hopefully help avert any potential destroying fires. Those tips include placing hay bales in smaller bunches, leaving space between the bales, and storing them away from public access.
