Summer Mowing Season Ramps Up; Look Out for City Crews

City officials are reminding motorists and residents that with increased rain during the summer months comes increased mowing efforts around town.
Princeton Public Works Director David Sullenger says that crews are consistently mowing several acres a week.

He adds that one of the most dangerous parts of the job is when crews are working in right-of-ways.

Sullenger recommends that the best tip for motorists who encounter city crews while they’re mowing is to slow down and be patient.

He also reminds residents that Princeton does have ordinances against blowing grass clippings into the street, because not only is it dangerous for motorcyclists, it also clogs up storm drains, which causes issues during heavy rains.

As rains continue to move through the area this weekend, grass along the sides of the road has the potential to grow quickly, so remember, if you see city crews out and about mowing, please, slow down, be patient, and give them room to work.
