UPDATE: Torrential Downpours Lead to Flooded Streets Within Caldwell County

As of 5:25PM Caldwell County Emergency Management Coordinator Joey McCaslin states that water levels have decreased along Garrett and South Jefferson Streets in downtown Princeton. He adds that water levels on McNary Street are also decreasing. McCaslin notes that Cherry Street is closed due to a downed tree that also brought down a power line. Crews are on scene to return power to customers and clean the area. Motorists are still being advised to use caution as potential heavy rain storms will continue into the evening hours.

Torrential downpours moving through the area Wednesday afternoon have lead to several flooded streets.
Caldwell County Emergency Management Coordinator Joey McCaslin says that currently they have reports of high water on Garrett Street, as well as several other streets in downtown Princeton. He adds that as of 4:50PM the viaduct on South Jefferson Street is flooded and has been closed.
McCaslin notes that motorists should be alert to other usual high water areas throughout the county and should use caution Wednesday night as more storms are expected to move through the area, dumping more rain on already saturated ground.
