Farm to City Breakfast Fundraiser for Backpack Program

Community members who want to support local producers while also helping a program that feeds children in need can do both by attending a community wide breakfast next month.
Joni Phelps, SNAP Assistant that the Caldwell County Extension Office, says that a Farm City Breakfast will be held on Saturday, July 13th at the First Baptist Church Christian Life Center at 300 West Main Street in Princeton. She adds that morning will kick off with a meet and greet at 7:30AM with the sit down breakfast to begin at eight.
Phelps explains that the keynote speaker will be County and Local Government Relations Director at UK CAFE, Nick Carter and tickets are $12 per person. She notes that all proceeds from the ticket sales will go to benefit the Caldwell County Feeding God’s Children Backpack program, which provides food for school aged children over weekends and breaks during the school year.
Phelps stresses that tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, July 3rd and are available at the Caldwell County Extension Office at 1025 US Highway 62 West in Princeton.
The meal, which will feature country ham cured by Caldwell County 4-H students, is being sponsored by the Caldwell County Extension Council, Farm Bureau, Atmos Energy, and Planters Bank.
