County to Receive Funds to Install Bridge on Lewistown Road Washout

The county is slated to receive just under $30,000 to install a much needed bridge in the eastern portion of the county.
At a Fiscal Court meeting on Tuesday Caldwell County Judge/Executive Larry Curling explained that the county wanted to install a bridge on Lewistown Road in an area where the roadway had collapsed in and had partially washed away. He expressed that engineers had decided it would be better to place a bridge in this area instead of attempting to redo the current culverts.
Judge Curling added that the state approved the installation of the bridge and promised to provide 80% of the total cost, or $27,760, with the county covering the remaining costs. He noted that the county’s portion of the project would cover all labor and equipment costs by facilitating it through the road department.
Following a motion and a second the Court unanimously approved a resolution accepting the funds granted by the state.
An exact starting date for the bridge installation project has not yet been determined.
