Jobless Rates Fell in 6 Pennyrile Counties In June 2019

Unemployment rates fell in six counties in the Pennyrile District, rose in two and stayed the same in one county between June 2018 and June 2019, according to the latest data released by the Kentucky Center for Statistics.
The lowest unemployment rate in the Pennyrile in June of this year was in Todd County at 4.3 percent, down from 4.5 percent in June 2018, while Muhlenberg County had the highest jobless rate at 7.5 percent, which was the same rate posted in June of last year.
Trigg County’s unemployment rate in June was 5.0 percent, down from 5.4 percent in June 2018.
The jobless rate in Lyon County in June fell to 5.1 percent from 5.2 percent from June of last year.
Christian County’s unemployment rate was 6.3 in June, down from 6.4 percent a year ago.
The jobless rate also fell in Crittenden and Livingston counties. Crittenden’s rate was 5.2 percent, compared to 5.9 percent in June 2018, while Livingston posted a 5.7 percent unemployment rate in June, down from 7.5 percent.
Jobless rates rose slightly in Caldwell and Hopkins counties. Caldwell’s unemployment rose slightly from 5.6 percent in June of last year to 5.7 percent, while Hopkins rose to 5.1 percent, compared to 5.0 in June 2018.
Statewide, unemployment rates fell in 55 counties during the same time period, rose in 51 and stayed the same in 14 counties.
Woodford County recorded the lowest jobless rate in Kentucky at 3.4 percent, while Magoffin County continued to record the highest unemployment rate as 12.4 percent.
Unemployment statistics are based on estimates and are compiled to measure trends rather actually count people working. They do not include unemployed Kentuckians who have not looked for employment within the past four weeks.
