Funeral services for Ray Guess, age 84 of Kuttawa, will be held Friday afternoon at two Suwanee Furnace Baptist Church in Kuttawa. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from five until eight at Dunn’s Funeral Home in Eddyville and Friday from noon until service time at the church.
Ray was a member of Suwanee Baptist Church and had been a Sunday School teacher for several years at Macedonia Baptist Church while serving as a Macedonia Cemetery Trustee Elder. He had retired from Southern States Ashland Oil as a transport operator after 42 years in addition to farming all his life. He was also a member of the Cattleman’s Association, former Lodge President of the Lyon County Chapter of the Woodmen of the World, former board member of Bright Life Farms in Caldwell County, and former member and Wagon Master of the National Trail Riders and Wagon Train Association.
Survivors include one son: Ricky Guess and wife, Rita, of Eddyville; three daughters: Betty Kuiper of West Paducah, Mariesa Driver and husband, Ferlin, and Cathy Holsapple and husband, James, both of Kuttawa, as well as five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
