A county leader, who has been instrumental in the war on Asian carp in western Kentucky, is in Alaska this week to speak at the Classic Roundtable on Fisheries hosted by the Kenai River Sportfishing Association and YAMAHA.

Lyon County Judge-Executive Wade White tells the News Edge it was an honor for YAMAHA to invite him to Alaska to speak about the invasive species and the national impacts to sportfishing. He adds the U.S. Senator from Alaska was on hand at the event, who he believes will be a new ally in the war on Asian carp in western Kentucky.

He adds the trip has been very positive.
In his downtime, Judge White is enjoying some fishing.
White indicates there are also some positive things happening in western Kentucky to fight the invasive species on Kentucky and Barkley lakes. Right now, he says the Lyon County subsidy is in full swing.

In addition, he notes they are not far away from installing the barrier below Barkley Dam. Once it’s installed, White says it is going to be exciting to see how well it works, adding that if the barrier works it will be a game-changer.
