County Officials Recognize Telecommunicators as First Responders

Caldwell County Dispatch Telecommunicators have been recognized as first responders following a resolution approved by the Fiscal Court.
At a meeting Tuesday morning Judge/Executive Larry Curling expressed his appreciation for Caldwell’s dispatchers and read a proclamation acknowledging that 911 telecommunicators area a part of the critical infrastructure of public safety, and without them, public safety would not be possible. He added that not only are telecommunicators first responders, they are the first first responder who selflessly make life saving, split-second decisions, that make all the difference in the outcome of the call.

Judge Curling noted that the Court also recognizes that not only do telecommunicators have to know their own agency protocols, they must also know the response protocols for every response event type and every response agency that utilizes their expertise.
The resolution states that the Court understands that telecommunicators are far from clerical positions and support the national movement to re-classify 911 telecommunicators as first responders. Following a motion and second the resolution was unanimously approved.

Caldwell County Dispatch Director Chris Noel then stood before those assembled and expressed his gratitude for the dispatchers who work for Caldwell County, stating there are no better dispatchers anywhere else and that it was his pleasure to work with them everyday in providing for the community.
