Less Than a Week Till 49th Annual Black Patch Heritage Festival

The Black Patch Heritage Festival is under a week away and while the annual Friends of the Library Book Sale began Saturday and runs all week, there’s still more family friendly fun to come this weekend.
Longtime Princeton Optimist Club member, Roy Gene Rogers, says that the parade will kick off Friday evening at five and adds that floats of all kinds, classic cars, church and civic organizations, winners of the Black Patch pageants, antique tractors, and more are being encouraged to participate. The parade lineup will begin at four in the Butler parking lot and no prior registration is needed. WPKY’s Tess and Ty will broadcast live beginning at 5PM to bring you all the action from downtown Princeton.
Rogers notes that Black Patch Saturday will kick off with the Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast beginning at seven in the Ogden United Methodist Church basement. Downtown booths will open starting at eight with the Butler/Caldwell County Reunion held on the Butler campus running from 8:30AM until noon. Rogers expresses that Art on Main returns again this year and will be set up in front of the Princeton Art Guild from 10AM to 5PM.
Dogs large and small, fuzzy and sleek, and everything in between are being invited to join in on a dog show held at Big Springs Park beginning at 10AM. Those without pets of their own need not fear as there will also be a petting zoo beside City Hall and Planter’s Park from 10AM to 3PM and a horse show beginning at 5PM at the Fredonia Valley Riding Club, located at 210 Dalton Road, just off of Highway 91 North between Princeton and Fredonia.
Rogers states that there’s still plenty more for the whole family including kids rides, games, the FFA Petal Tractor Pull from 10AM to 2PM, cake walk, vendor booths selling everything from yard sale items to jewelry to food and more.
Rounding out the night Saturday will be music that fits just about every taste. Optimist Club Member Wesley Curtis says that the Tribute Quartet, a group from Tennessee, will perform for the 15th anniversary of the Black Patch Gospel Singing. Admission is free for the event, which starts at 7PM at First Baptist Church, but a love offering will be received.
Other free music will include local musicians, the Justin Reynolds Band, who will be set up on West Court Square from 6 until 8PM and will play a mixture of southern rock, country, Gospel, and more, as well as the Benny Pryor Square Dance at the end of East Main Street.
WPKY will be broadcasting live from downtown from 10AM until 2PM so be sure to stop by the booth and tell us what you love about Black Patch.
