A local member of the community as well as a previous resident have been awarded one of the highest honors within the Rotary International.
Princeton Rotary Club Executive Secretary Melissa Earnest says that the local chapter recognized Marty Presler for gaining the status of a Paul Harris Fellow(PHF) during their meeting Tuesday. She adds that former Princeton resident, past Club President, and current honorary member, Dr. Duane Miksch was also recognized as a PHF+7 and thus, is the largest local donor to The Rotary Foundation for the Princeton Rotary Club.
Earnest notes that a Paul Harris Fellow represents a minimum donation of $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation. As a PHF, the recipient promotes peace, fights disease, provides clean water, saves mothers and children, supports education and helps with the growth of local economies through The Rotary Foundation. They also provide funds for matching district grants which support projects within the local community, as well as in communities throughout District 6710.
Earnest states that Presler, who is the Director for District 1 in the Kentucky Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, was originally asked to attend the meeting to share information about Constitution Month. Instead, Presler was surprised with a Paul Harris Fellow certificate and pin, presented by District 6710 Governor Otha Ray Stearman.
The Princeton Rotary Club meets each Tuesday at noon at the Majestic House Restaurant and visitors are always welcome to attend.
