A recent Future Farmers of America State Star in Placement recipient was recognized by county officials Tuesday morning.

FFA State Star in Placement Award Recipient Colton George and Caldwell County Magistrate District 4 Jeff Simms

At a Caldwell County Fiscal Court meeting Judge/Executive Larry Curling congratulated Princeton resident and recent Caldwell County High School graduate, Colton George, for receiving the highest honor bestowed on an FFA member. Judge Curling stated that in order to receive the award Colton was an active FFA member for four years, completed over 4000 hours at his family’s farm for his Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Program, and completed an interview in front of a panel of agricultural leaders from across the state during the Kentucky State FFA Convention in June.
Judge Curling praised Colton for his dedication to the agricultural field, his studies, and his community involvement, adding that outside of work on the farm, Colton also volunteered with the Caldwell County Conservation District and donated to the HOPE and COPE Centers’ Food Drive.
Magistrate District 4 Jeff Simms then presented a certificate of achievement to Colton expressing that he is an example of overcoming challenges and excelling in life. Magistrate District 2 Jeff Boone echoed those sentiments, stating that Colton’s commitment to excellence began as a child and was instilled in him by his parents, Greg and Libby George, who own George Farms.

Colton, only the second Caldwell County FFA State Star in Placement recipient, received the award in front of friends, family, and FFA members from across the Commonwealth at a special ceremony in Lexington in June.
