Grand Jury Returns Indictments for Drug Trafficking, Possession, and More

The Caldwell County Grand Jury returned several indictments on various charges Friday, including drug trafficking, drug possession, and failure to comply with the sex offender registry.

The grand jury returned an indictment on 43-year-old Heath M. Rogers on charges of first degree trafficking in methamphetamine – greater than or equal to two grams, persistent felony offender, possession of a radio that sends or receives police messages, convicted felon in possession of a handgun, and various other lesser charges. The charges stem from an incident on July 4th when the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office reported that a deputy observed a vehicle being driven by someone with a suspended license and initiated a traffic stop. Investigation at the scene revealed that the driver, Rogers, was allegedly in possession of potential illicit substances and a handgun.

The grand jury also returned an indictment on 52-year-old Clifton G. McKinney on charges of failure to comply with the sex offender registration, first offense. Charges stem from an incident on July 24th in which the Princeton Police Department reports that officers arrested McKinney on the charge he was indicted on.

The grand jury then returned an indictment on 49-year-old Nikonia J. Ware on charges of first degree possession of methamphetamine. The charges stem from an incident on July 9th in which the Princeton Police Department reports that officers arrested Ware charging her with third degree terroristic threatening. Reports state that when officers searched her person they allegedly found approximately 29 grams of methamphetamine in her pocket. She was subsequently charged with first degree trafficking in methamphetamine – greater than 2 grams, and possession of methamphetamine. Ware was indicted by the Caldwell County Grand Jury on the trafficking charge on September 12th.
