Upcoming Roadwork in Marion to Prep for Installation of Center Turn Lane Along US 60

Motorists who routinely travel through Marion need to be aware of upcoming roadwork next week.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says that a contractor plans to start curb and gutter upgrades along a section of US 60/Main Street Monday, October 21st through Friday, October 25th. He adds that the work is the first phase in a number of upgrades through downtown Marion that will create a center turn lane along US 60/North Main Street from the KY 91/KY 120/Bellville Street intersection extending north to First Street.
Todd notes that motorists should be prepared to encounter work zone lane restrictions starting next week as the contractor completes work on another project and moves crews and equipment to the work zone. The project will eventually include base repairs and paving along US 60/Main Street through downtown Marion from the US 641 intersection to First Street, which will be scheduled at a later date.
The lane configuration changes are aimed at improving traffic flow and safety along US 60 between Bellville Street and First Street in Marion.
KYTC engineers indicate the specific start date for the curb and gutter work will be dictated by the weather and completion of other ongoing projects by the contractor.
