Princeton Home Sustains Major Damage in Early Morning Fire

A Princeton home sustained major damage in an early morning fire Tuesday.
Princeton Fire Chief Brent Francis says that crews responded to reports of a fire at a residence on Shady Grove Road just before 3:30. He adds that when crews arrived the kitchen, living room, and a utility type room were fully involved.
Chief Francis notes that crews were able to keep the blaze contained to the original three rooms but heat and smoke damage affected the rest of residence. He states that while the home is still foundationally sound, damage is expected to be in the thousands of dollars. The homeowner was in the residence at the time of the fire but was able to safely exit and was not injured.
Chief Francis reports that the fire seems to have originated in the kitchen but a cause has not been determined.
Fredonia Fire Department assisted by covering Princeton while crews worked to extinguish the fire.
