Voter Turnout In The Area Better Than Predicted

County officials in Christian, Trigg, and Caldwell believe voter turnout has been higher than expected for the General Election due to the governor’s race.
As of 4:00 p.m., Caldwell County Clerk Toni Watson says over 3,000 had voted out of the 10,134 registered voters in the county and believes the turnout is higher due to the governor’s race. She also noted there have not been any problems at any of the precinct locations.
Christian County Elections Coordinator Melinda Humphries says there were two electioneering issues they resolved after it was brought to their attention. She says one of the issues was at Indian Hills Elementary School.

The second electioneering issue was at Hopkinsville Middle School.

Humphries says they had a few hiccups at precincts this morning.

She adds voter turnout has been steady and believes the nickel tax question is why there has been an increase of voters in some precincts.

Meanwhile, Trigg County Clerk Carmen Finley says no issues have been reported. She adds over 30% of registered voters have shown up to vote, so far.

Finley urges those who haven’t voted yet to get out and cast their ballot before 6:00.

Your News Edge will have complete election results on 106.5 WKDZ, 96.5 WHVO, and 103.3 WPKY after the polls close at 6:00 PM. Live streams of the coverage can also be heard at whvoradio.com or wpkyonline.com.
