Sunshine Helps Improve Western Kentucky Roads

Road conditions around the southern Pennyrile improved significantly during the daytime thanks to sunshine and temperatures barely above the 20 degree mark.
A round of snow and ice left roads slick and hazardous Tuesday morning, which resulted in the closure of most schools in the southern Pennyrile and curtailed operating hours for some businesses and government offices.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District One spokesman Keith Todd says the sunshine has made a big difference.

District two spokesperson Keirsten Jaggers says crews are reporting the same thing.

Jaggers notes there were number of wrecks in district two along Interstate 24, the Pennyrile Parkway, Interstate 69 and the Western Kentucky Parkway.

Todd reminds motorists to slow down and keep a watchful eye in the overnight hours.

Jaggers reiterated the same message.

The possibility of snow and ice re-freezing in the overnight hours and creating hazardous driving conditions has already prompted some cancellations.
