Bids for McCaslin Building on Market Street Approved

A bid to purchase a vacant downtown building from the Caldwell County Fiscal Court has been approved.
At a meeting Tuesday morning Judge/Executive Larry Curling suggested that the Court approve the highest presented bid, in the amount of $17,000, for the McCaslin building, located at 106 West Market Street, that had been declared surplus at the beginning of September. He added that ever since Joseph’s Storage Bin had moved locations, the building wasn’t currently being utilized by the county and officials would rather someone else take advantage of the building and its location.
Judge Curling noted that the county would retain ownership of the parking lot beside the building which is currently used for courthouse employees.
Following a motion and a second, the Court unanimously approved the highest bid, which was submitted by local attorney, Matt Schalk.
