Cerulean Man Facing Drug and Vehicle Related Charges Following Caldwell County Arrest

A Cerulean man is facing several charges, including drug and vehicle related offenses, following a traffic stop Friday night in Caldwell County.
Caldwell County Sheriff Stan Hudson reports that a deputy observed a Chevrolet Impala crossing the center line several times as it traveled along Highway 126 and conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Sims Road around midnight. He adds that upon further investigation it was found that the driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old Jesse Markham, was operating the vehicle with a suspended license.
Sheriff Hudson notes that Markham allegedly admitted to the deputy that he had a small amount of marijuana in his vehicle but later stated that it wasn’t marijuana but hemp he was attempting to sell as marijuana.
Sheriff Hudson states that hemp, as well as cash and drug paraphernalia, were then found inside the vehicle.
Markham was taken into custody and charged with the sell or transfer of simulated controlled substances, drug paraphernalia buying or possessing, possession of industrial hemp, and operating on a suspended or revoked license, among various other vehicle related offenses.
He was then lodged in the Caldwell County Jail. A female passenger in the vehicle was not charged.
