Kuttawa Man Charged After Deputies Find Fake Money

A Kuttawa man is facing charges after deputies say they found over $8,000 in fake money inside his residence.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies responded to a disturbance complaint on Robertson Road just outside of Kuttawa shortly before 4:30 Sunday afternoon. During the investigation, deputies saw a large amount of cash in plain view at the residence. After investigating further, deputies determined the money was counterfeit and seized $8,600 in fake one-hundred-dollar bills from the home.
The homeowner, 33-year old Timothy Wyse was charged with first-degree possession of a forged instrument. The sheriff’s office indicates Wyse will appear for an arraignment in Lyon District Court on Wednesday, January 8th.
The sheriff’s office also reports this is the second time in two weeks deputies have recovered counterfeit $100 bills. They indicate the fake money recovered in Kuttawa is the same or similar type recovered in Eddyville on Christmas Day during a traffic stop on Kentucky 93 South.
The investigation is continuing and deputies indicate more charges could be possible.
