Pennyroyal Center Awarded Grant To Expand Substance Use Services

The Pennyroyal Center was recently awarded a $300,000 grant from the Department for Behavioral Health, Development, and Intellectual Disabilities to expand treatment and recovery services to individuals with Opioid Use Disorders.
CEO Eric Embry says the focus of the successful grant application was for the implementation of residential recovery homes for individuals within the eight-county region served by the Pennyroyal Center. He states they have continued to hear from the community that housing options are limited for individuals they serve, specifically individuals transitioning from substance use treatment facilities and trying to get back on their feet. Embry adds this award will help the Pennyroyal Center address this regional issue.
Director of Substance Use Services, Ashley Boze says this new program will provide stability and support. She notes housing is not the only provision of the program but will also include case management, employment coaching and assistance, connection to community resources as well as connection to the recovery community. Boze adds they are excited for this opportunity to serve individuals in need in the communities they serve.
The Pennyroyal Center was established in February 1966 as a non-profit, community mental health center and provides person-centered services in behavioral health, substance use, and developmental and intellectual disabilities for all citizens in the region. The center serves the counties of Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Lyon, Muhlenberg, Todd and Trigg.
