
A Christian County farm was one of the top soybean producers in 2019.
Folz Farm owners Tom and Thomas Folz received the award for having the best soybean yield in the non-irrigated category during the Kentucky Commodity Conference in Bowling Green January 16. Folz Farm won the category with a yield of 72.02 bushels per acre. The Folz’s grew a variety of Beck’s soybean seed.
Folz Farm also had the second-highest protein content of 40.32 percent in their bean crop. Tom and Thomas Folz grew Becks as a double-crop soybean following wheat.
Also during the Commodity Conference awards program, Todd County Cooperative Extension Agent Curt Judy was honored with the Supervisor’s Award for submitting the most entries in the 2019 Wheat Yield Contest. Judy was also recognized for supervising the top-tree average corn yield of 279.65 bushels per acre.
