Light Snow and Cold Temps Cause Hazardous Driving Conditions

A light dusting of snow and below freezing temperatures created some hazardous driving conditions early Friday and lead to several closures and delays.
Caldwell County Superintendent Nate Huggins reported that schools were closed due to slick roads on the school campus and lower attendance due to the flu.
Waste Corporation of America Princeton Account Manager Jeff Simms added that routes in Princeton were on a bit of a weather delay but noted that trash should be collected by the end of the day.
WPKY News Edge has also received several reports of early morning one-vehicle accidents throughout the county, with the majority of accidents involving vehicles sliding into ditches. Princeton Fire Chief Brent Francis states one woman was transported to a local hospital following an accident on Hopkinsville Road but all other reported accidents were non-injury.
Keirsten Jaggers, spokeswoman for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, stated that seven state trucks were out salting all A, B, and C state routes within Caldwell County throughout the morning hours.
With temperatures forecast to reach near 36 and small spots of sunshine road conditions will continue to improve throughout the day, however temperatures are expected to drop below freezing Friday night and could lead to slick spots reforming. Motorists are being encouraged to continue to use caution during their evening and early morning commute.
