Regional Internet Feasibility Study Moving Closer to Development

A regional internet feasibility study for rural internet is one step closer to being conducted.
During a meeting Tuesday Lake Barkley Partnership for Economic Development Executive Director Amanda Davenport addressed the Caldwell County Fiscal Court with an update concerning the study, which will include Caldwell, Lyon, Crittenden, and Livingston counties.

At an earlier meeting Davenport stated that the Minnesota based company, NEO Partners, had proposed to conduct a feasibility study through their Community Network Quickstart Program. She explained that the study would provide communities with realistic options, costs, and basic background information for a variety of deployment opportunities surrounding the installation of broadband in rural areas. The study, which would include all four counties, is estimated to cost about $24,000 with the cost not covered by the Kentucky Ag Development Board grant split equally between each county.
A resolution concerning releasing funding for the study was approved at the end of January.
