Coronavirus Threat Remains Low, Residents Urged To Take Precautions

Governor Andy Beshear was joined by officials from the Kentucky Department for Public Health and leaders from Harrison County Saturday afternoon to discuss what the state is doing to combat the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The first case was confirmed in Harrison County on Friday. Governor Beshear notes it’s not a time to panic, as the risk for residents getting the virus is still low.

Beshear shared a number of things they are asking the residents in Harrison County to do, including social distancing.

In addition, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released a new suggestion for people who could be the most susceptible to Coronavirus.

Beshear adds there are a number of steps Kentuckians should take to protect their health that include; washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20-seconds or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer and avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Additionally, avoid close contact with people who are sick, stay home if you are sick, and cover a cough or sneeze with a tissue and properly dispose of it.
Governor Beshear adds if anyone has questions about the Coronavirus they should call the new state hotline at 1-800-722-5725.
