State police have released additional information on a couple who were found deceased from gunshot wounds Monday night inside their Eddyville home.
According to KSP Post One, Lyon County Sheriff Brent White, an Eddyville police officer, and Adult Protective Services were called to a home on US 62, just north of Eddyville to conduct a welfare check on 72-year old Talonna McCormick. Upon arrival, Sheriff White heard gunshots from inside the residence and entered the home to render aid to William McCormick who was in medical distress. Sheriff White also located Talonna deceased inside the home.
Autopsies were conducted Tuesday afternoon and determined Talonna died from a close-range gunshot wound to the chest and William died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Further investigation revealed both were suffering from other medical conditions.
Detective Michael Robichaud continues to investigate the incident. KSP was assisted on scene by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Eddyville Police Department, Lyon County EMS, and the Lyon County Coroner’s Office.
