Princeton Storm Sirens Activated Following Storm Warnings

Princeton residents are being reminded of the reason for the town’s storm sirens as potential severe weather moves through the area.
Officials with the Caldwell County Office of Emergency Management state that, as a precaution, the storm sirens are activated each time the National Weather Service issues a storm warning, whether that’s a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning. They add that the precaution was put into effect several years ago after a man was killed at the VFW ballpark during a pop-up thunderstorm.
Officials note that storm sirens are used to alert people who are outside of possible severe weather so they can seek shelter.
Storm sirens are only activated following the issuance of a storm warning, not during watches.
