Local Funeral Homes Assuring Public During COVID-19 Precautions

Local funeral homes are ensuring the public that during these confusing and concerning times surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic they are still here to serve the community.
According to a release from Morgan’s and Lakeland Funeral Homes they have received no mandates from the Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky, National Funeral Directors Association, or local and state emergency services to cancel visitations or services. The release adds that reminders have been placed throughout their funeral homes asking that physical contact, such as shaking hands, be limited with family members and are also providing professional hand sanitizer stations throughout both facilities. Goodman Funeral Home Funeral Director Josh Cook states that they currently have hand sanitizer stations set up throughout their location and have increased their normal cleaning procedures by constantly wiping down high-touch surfaces like doorknobs, chair backs, and desks. Officials at Dunn’s Funeral Home in Eddyville state that right now they are still having services but are taking high precautionary measures by providing hand sanitizer stations and asking visitors to limit person-to-person contact. They add that they are closely monitoring the situation and all suggestions from the Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky, the National Funeral Directors Association, and state and national leaders.
