The agriculture program at Caldwell County High School will soon be adding a CNC plasma cutting system, thanks in part to a $5,000 Ag Achiever grant from the Kentucky FFA Foundation.
Agriculture Educator Wes York states that having hands-on experience with a CNC plasma cutter will give Ag students a leg up in finding a career in the metal fabrication industry. He adds that students will also be able to use the CNC plasma cutting system to make items they can sell as their supervised agricultural experience project.
York notes that to his knowledge this will be the first commercial CNC machine active within the community.
Funding for Ag Achiever grants in part comes from money raised by the $10 donation residents make when they renew their ag license tags.
Kentucky FFA Foundation initiatives impact nearly 14,000 FFA members in 158 FFA chapters across Kentucky.
