First Nursing Home Employee Dies From COVID-19 In KY

Governor Andy Beshear announced Tuesday afternoon the first death of a Kentucky nursing home worker.
During his daily update, Governor Beshear said the 50-year old female was from Adair County.

Beshear confirmed 10 other deaths Tuesday, bringing the statewide total to 115. He also confirmed 177 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 6 from Hopkins, 3 in Christian, and 1 in Caldwell.
Additionally, Beshear says he will be listening to public health officials over legislators and lobbyists on when to open ‘non-essential’ businesses.

Governor Beshear adds the state is continuing to look for personal protective equipment (PPE), which has been very hard to acquire, as amounts continue to dwindle.

Beshear says there is nowhere near enough supplies for the state. PPE helps protect workers at longterm care facilities, hospitals, and first responders who may be caring for positive COVID-19 patients.
In addition, Governor Beshear announced the single largest donation made to the Team Kentucky fund came from the Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels. The organization made a $1-million donation and more updates on the fund are expected to come in the next few days.
