Beshear Reports 244 New COVID-19 Cases Statewide On Saturday


Governor Andy Beshear said while the number of new single-daily total of COVID-19 cases is up for Saturday’s report, the number of reported new deaths and hospitalizations is down.
Beshear did not hold his daily live news conference Saturday afternoon but instead released the updated numbers via a video posted on social media. He said there are 244 new cases, with 97 of those cases from the Jefferson County area.

Currently, he said the number of hospitalizations is down, but the number of ICU cases has gone up.

He added the total number of recoveries is 2,768 from the virus.
The governor also reported two new deaths related to the coronavirus, bringing the death toll in the state to 334.

He said the total number of cases is 7,688.
Governor Beshear also gave a breakdown of the number of COVID-19 cases and the number of deaths by race an ethnicity.

While the state is continuing to increase testing in long-term care facilities, Beshear reported there were thirteen new residents and thirteen new staff members who have tested positive for the virus. He believes there have been five overall deaths in long-term facilities in Kentucky.
